About the ArtistGreg Newboldhas always loved to draw and paint and feels fortunate to be able to create art for a living. Making the world a more beautiful place through his paintings is one of Greg’s ideals, because “life needs art.” His finely detailed, nostalgic and sometimes whimsical artwork can be enjoyed in several picture books including The Barnyard Night Before Christmas written by Beth Terrill (Random House; 2007) and Winter Lullaby by Barbara Seuling (Gulliver Books-Harcourt; 1998). Greg’s paintings for The Touch of the Master’s Hand earned Awards of Merit from both The Society of Illustrators and Communication Arts. About the AuthorMyra Brooks Welch(1877–1959) grew up in Illinois, Nebraska, and Oregon, and lived for most of her adult life in La Verne, California. She married Otis Melvin Welch in 1900, and they had three children. Once an aspiring musician, she suffered from severe arthritis which later in life confined her to a wheelchair. Nevertheless, Myra continued to let her soul sing out through her writing . She published three volumes of poetry. Her poem "The Touch of the Master’s Hand" which first appeared in 1921 went on to receive worldwide acclaim. |
